This is a website for a glass art craftsman, with the name ‘Hatuka-an’. It started as a portfolio for their work, but it evolved into something more—a site that beautifully captures the depth of their creations, the artist’s personality, and their connections with others through the blog. I believe it turned out to be a multi-layered and captivating site.
The photos we used really highlight the beauty of the light interacting with the glass, thanks to a talented photographer.
We considered other templates, but we chose ‘FAMOUS’ because it promised a simple and intuitive design. The challenge was the photo sizes, which were dimensions we hadn’t worked with before, making it difficult to avoid empty spaces around the artworks and requiring a lot of cropping. While it worked well for close-up shots, it wasn’t ideal for full-scale photos.
Overall, I think the site effectively showcases the charm and presence of the artworks.
When I visited the site, I was struck by the beautiful works of art. It is described as “craft of light,” and that is exactly what I found it to be. I also find the stories of each piece interesting.
Touching on the functional aspect of the theme, one of the features of FAMOUS is the “WORKS” custom post type that can be used as a gallery. You will see images of various sizes beautifully displayed.
