The website for “Soto Sect Hourinin Temple,” which carries on a long history and tradition in Ibaraki Prefecture, utilizes MIKADO.
We chose “MIKADO” because your company’s spatial aesthetics matched the calligraphic principle that “ink is drawn to create space,” and it preceded the emergence of “ZEN.” Eventually, we hope to transition to “ZEN,” which better suits this Zen temple.
Our key focus points were: how compellingly we could present our services; how to guide user flow; and ensuring the website felt safe and trustworthy for inquiries.
The first view features a full-screen video that conveys the temple’s unique solemn atmosphere. MIKADO’s flexibility allows replacing the video with an image slider, enabling easy configuration adjustments based on operational policies and update systems.
Additionally, vertical text layout—a signature MIKADO feature—maximizes the beauty of the Japanese language. Carefully balanced typography and spacing in vertical display visually convey Japanese culture and spirituality with precision. This layout harmonizes exceptionally well with temple sites, imparting an impression of calmness and dignity.
Furthermore, anticipating the essential information dissemination needs of temple management, MIKADO includes a custom post type called “Schedule” for organizing and publishing event calendars. This allows for clear, chronological management and updating of ceremonies, memorial services, and annual events, making it a very user-friendly design for visitors.
We believe this serves as a valuable reference for those considering a website to convey temple and Japanese culture. Please take a look.
