Macaroni and Management Co., Ltd. utilizes GAIA for their website “Opera for Special Occasions”.
Key Focus Points During Website Development
This website was created to externally communicate the activities launched by Macaroni and Management Co., Ltd. for the purpose of social contribution and corporate patronage.
Therefore, the core philosophy and actual activities undertaken are paramount, with the website serving solely as a complementary tool.
Given that the core philosophy is to broaden the appeal of opera—a comprehensive art form in Japan—the site avoids pursuing fleeting trends. It adopts a style that does not integrate with social media, aligning with the goal of steady, sustained activity.
Furthermore, in line with the above intent, the website design prioritizes simplicity and clarity over multifunctionality, emphasizing its non-commercial, non-profit, and cultural aspects.
The key points emphasized in designing this website are as follows. (Our company designs all websites, including our corporate site, in-house.)
(1) Website Color Scheme ~ What color represents “opera,” which depicts human drama?
First, we considered: What color symbolizes “opera”? We decided to make that color the website’s fundamental palette.
Opera is human drama, unfolding through joy, anger, sorrow, and pleasure to become tragedy or comedy.
What is comedy for one person can be tragedy for another.
Our team concluded that opera is “multicolored,” and this concept became the overarching color scheme for the website.(2) Sparking Imagination ~ What Does Gentleness Toward Website Readers Mean?
Our goal is for people to discover and experience opera through various opportunities, then share its joy with others.
Therefore, we avoid imposing preconceived notions or information. Instead, we strive to minimize anything that might hinder the act of “sparking the reader’s imagination” on the website.
This approach naturally leads to more text-based content than video, so we invested significant time in selecting the font, testing every possible pattern.
We hope this website will also be accessible to students who, despite being crammed with studies for middle school entrance exams, are actually capable of reading and understanding longer texts.Reasons for Choosing the GAIA Theme
While the project team agreed to use TCD’s design templates for the website, we carefully deliberated over which specific theme to choose.
Although the GAIA theme was originally designed for aquariums, its dynamic site design and calendar functionality caught our attention.
Furthermore, we judged it to be the best theme aligned with the objectives outlined in point 1.
As noted in the comments, this site demonstrates meticulous attention to detail, even in elements like font selection. The calendar feature, a hallmark of GAIA, is also effectively utilized.
The features of GAIA are detailed in the following article:
